I no longer believe that to be the case and I now hand out Christmas cards every holiday season. It's heaps of fun to send and get sent cards and it's also an easy way to keep in contact with friends and family who I possibly would not otherwise manage to see at other times during the year.
I fairly recently realized that Christmas cards might be a collectors item and I have started collecting new Christmas cards. I keep any unique cards I see at Christmas but also search online for Christmas cards. They are on sale all year round and a great way to find them is at auction.
